We have an opportunity available for a Learning Mentor to join our team based in Northwich. The role is offered on a 2 year fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week (term time only). In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £17,813 per annum (£20,584 full time equivalent). About the role: The Achievement and Support department is at the heart of the college and working as a Learning Mentor offers colleagues the opportunity to make a real difference to students. The successful applicants will work as part of an experienced team to support named students in class or on a one to one basis. This involves delivering support strategies which will assist the student s individual learning and social needs and their academic studies. They will also provide more wide-reaching support to all students at the college for example helping with revision strategies, time management and essay planning. Candidates will ideally have experience of working with students with special education needs and will need to have excellent communication skills, be able to use their initiative and have a calm demeanour. The post is full time (37 hours per week) term time only and is fixed term for two years. Hours of work will be 8.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8.30 am to 4.00 pm on Wednesday. Your responsibilities as our Learning Mentor will be to: Provide learning support for students in class and in one to one situations Deliver and implement effective study support programmes to all students on an individual/group basis, via mentoring and monitoring sessions and to signpost where relevant Develop knowledge of the particular needs of the student and seek advice as appropriate Liaise with students teachers, parents, progress mentors and the Learning Support Manager etc regarding the needs of the student Assist the Learning Support Manager with monitoring achievement of the student, through the review process.
