FABRICATION MACHINE OPERATOR/WELDERJOB DESCRIPTION

The UK Manufacturing Division carries out various manufacturing processes required for the production of our products. The various teams in the division consist of semi-skilled and skilled mechanical assemblers, machine operators and welders.The Fabrication Machine Operator/Setter will be based within the Fabrication Team, learning to set and operate 4 of the machines used on a daily basis. Flexibility in the role is essential as cover for other departments such as Assembly and Despatch may be required on an on-going basis.Training will take place during the initial 6 month probationary period, and will be carried out by an experienced Machine Operator/Setter within the existing team.

REPORTS TO: Team Leader (Fabrication & Welding) BASED AT: Havant FactoryKEY RESULT AREAKEY OBJECTIVES/OUTCOMESMachine Operation / Welding

• To understand the functions of the Amada CNC Brake Presses, Vipros Punch Press, roll former and guillotine.
• To be able to set up all of the machines under the supervision of the Machine Operator/Setter.
• To understand the functions of machinery and use in an efficient manner.
• To use the Guillotine and roll former when required.
• To gain an understanding of the H&S and routine maintenance checks required on each of the machines.
• To weld piece parts to form frames or basses from different profiles.
• Welding different thicknesses from 1mm to 10mm, from punctured and formed parts (aluminium to galv).
• To weld to high standard of quality from technical drawings provided.
• Maintenance of welding equipment and machinery.
• To be self-motivated and time efficient to routing card rimes.

• Willingly provide flexibility to the rest of the manufacturing departments as and when required.

QHSE

EXPERIENCE

EssentialDesirable

• Ability to read and interpret drawings (3rd angle drawings).

• Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with TIG welding (aluminium ).

• Previous experience of working with sheet metal, aluminium.

• Experience of using Production Machines and setting.

SKILLS EssentialDesirable

• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.

• Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.

• Pro-active with excellent problem solving skills.

• Forklift or electric pallet truck trained.

• Reliable and flexible work ethic.

• Good hand and eye co-ordination and attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS

EssentialDesirable

• Good level of general education including GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).

• Formal qualification in Engineering/Power Press or similar.
