Seen this advert before? Yes you will have – because our Basingstoke client is due to triple in size over coming months and we are helping them build a team of skilled Mechanical Fitters for their chemical processing plants in Basingstoke.

We are looking for hands-on Mechanical Fitters with experience working in a manufacturing environment, where making things out of metal and making things work better is a day to day part of your role.

You will support production facilities across 3 sites in Basingstoke by performing day-to-day plant upkeep, PPM, supporting new and existing pilot plant work as well as supporting new process and product development.

This is a hands-on role, requiring a good level of fitness and the desire to spend time in the plant. You will be on your feet for most of the day, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights and access confined spaces.

You will work collaboratively with others, supporting output improvement projects and pilot plant projects, making parts out of metal and composites to enhance and fine tune processes, as well as performing day to day maintenance and repairs.

Essential Requirements

• Mechanically minded, inventive and a problem solver
• Metal fabrication experience
• Pipefitting experience may be useful
• Process engineering/mechanical fitter experience creating bespoke “one off” solutions or prototypes
• Good understanding of technical diagrams and drawings
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with contractors, plant colleagues and management team
• Ability to coach others

Advantage but not Essential

• Knowledge of electronic controls
• Knowledge and experience of welding processes TiG & MiG
• Knowledge of workshop equipment
• Knowledge of fluid power
• IT proficiency in Microsoft Office package
