A fantastic opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join an established & growing company located near the centre of Birmingham working on state-of-the-art process automation, robotics & test systems within the logistics, automotive, aerospace & manufacturing industries. Sorion is looking for a well-rounded engineer to work on a variety of equipment for Sorion assembly & test solution. You will have design influence & the scope of the job will be varied covering widely different requirements. Key responsibilities The role will involve working with the client through all phases of a project cycle including requirements capture, specification, design & implementation, documentation, installation, commisioning , handover, training & support The majority of the role will be spent working on guided assembly, mobile robotics & test systems, requiring an understanding of process, IT system interaction & how parts under test are connected & function Interfacing to parts being manufactured using analogue & digital I/O, CAN or LIN As well as communication, documentation & project management skills, the role also requires an understanding of mobile robotics, mechanical, electrical & vehicle systems Requirements Electronic/Software/Control Systems based Degree/HND Time served will also be taken into consideration Knowledge of working in a practical process control & automation environment Basic control programming (Python, VBA, IsaGraf, SQL, PLC Logic Control) Requirements capture & the ability to create or update specifications Peripheral & electronics or control systems Preferred skills/experience PC builds, software installations & application configuration Ability to overcome problems as they arise, as well as self-discipline, motivation & quick thinking Time management & the ability to organise your projects is important Technologies An understanding of the following: Interaction or operation use of factory systems (ERP/Build Control/MES or SCADA/PLCs, OPC/Modbus), user of 3rd Party Devices (Vision, Test & Measurement, Drives) Manufacturing Processes & Quality Systems Automotive & Electro-Mechanical systems
