At London Metropolitan University, we have implemented a new and exciting Digital Strategy, focusing on investment in our core systems and infrastructure to support the University’s growth and meet our ambitions.

A key part of our Technology function, the IT Services department provides all IT related services and develops new IT solutions in collaboration with colleagues from across the University, whilst ensuring the ongoing smooth operation of existing solutions. We are a team of collaborators and knowledge sharers working in an agile, fast-paced environment.

You will be joining a vibrant and growing ITS team who are committed to the University with a balance of local knowledge and external experience while working on key roadmaps and projects to support University growth.

As Network & Connectivity Lead, you will get the opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our Core networks, datacentres, access layer networks, Firewalls and campus Wi-Fi connectivity, alongside leading on the development of our future state Networks strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure & Operations, you will advise on fit for purpose network and connectivity architecture to ensure we deliver our digital strategy and meet the evolving needs of our students and staff users.

You will manage a small team of infrastructure professionals, providing support and guidance to ensure continuous improvement across all our services, and foster a user-centric approach across the team for the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of network services.

Your profile

• Extensive experience in managing ICT infrastructure services covering communications network systems (UC, LAN, WAN) and data centres.
• Experience or understanding of Cloud based networking services in both IaaS and SaaS solutions.
• Strong expertise in Network Design and Delivery
• Management of operational, technological and process improvements to deliver better services your customers
• Experience leading and managing technical teams, as well as 3rd party suppliers and resources
• Strong stakeholder experience, with an ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisations, and externally, and communicate with non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of Cisco networks is highly desirable
