Job Description

Role Purpose

The Cloud and Operations team is responsible to the overall delivery and management of the core IT and networking infrastructure across public and private clouds. As part of this group, cloud and networking are fundamental elements enabling strategic business and IT initiatives. As part of the Cloud and Operations team within the central Group IT function, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and hands on engineering to develop, deploy, support and maintain new and existing technology. This role will work with key stakeholders within the team and across the business to determine architecture and business needs, governance requirements, and then leading the implementation of approved solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the design and implementation of network infrastructure as part of the cloud and operation team; this includes capabilities such as SD-WAN, inter and intra cloud network connectivity, VPN, VoIP, perimeter security, load balancing, data centre and remote access
• Responsible for development and deployment of core network technologies including Palo Alto, Cisco and Aviatrix along with additional vendors as required.
• Provide subject matter expertise to project and delivery teams and also across the wider cloud operations team.
• Provide knowledge sharing across the team to support the ongoing development of cross team operational support functions.
• Provide project support for network functions and help ensure these are appropriately planned, delivered on time and within budget.
• Support development of technical roadmaps of new and existing network capabilities
• Providing 3rd line escalation for the network infrastructure services provided by the Cloud and Operation team including participation in the resolution of ServiceNow incidents and service requests,
• Liaising with other groups including infrastructure, application and security teams for successful delivery of project tasks and resolution of incidents
• Contribution towards network standards and configuration templates along with ensuring configuration of network infrastructure is inline with security standards and compliance requirements
• Liaise with various stakeholder groups for any new requirements and provide a network design framework to ensure the new requirements can be incorporated to the design for projects, tasks, and network related activities.
• Support the development and deployment of automation capabilities to more efficiently operate network services

Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification

• University degree level education or equivalent in Computer Science / Data Communications or similar.
• Holds a network certifications such as CISCO CCNP or Palo Alto PCCSA or equivalent practical experience and expertise above this level obtained in a network related role.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience of Public Cloud technologies, ideally AWS & Azure
• Experienced in designing, implementing and operating enterprise networks
• Knowledge of Palo Alto, Panaroma, Cisco Firewalls with exposure to context and dynamic routing protocols.
• Proven expert in configuring network switches, with experience of VLANs, RSTP, etc.
• Experienced in configuring network monitoring tools like Stablenet, Algosec, Qradar would be advantageous, although training will be provided to the right candidate with other related skills that might enhance the post and/or the group
• Generally proficient in Windows and Linux computer systems to systems administrator level
• Knowledge of ancillary network tools like Cisco ISE, DNAC, and other monitoring / troubleshooting tools like Wireshark would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Ticketing systems (ServiceNow advantageous)
• Fluent with Microsoft Office components especially Visio
• Willingness to learn new skills and be self-motivate.
• Ability to work in a team environment and be able to prioritise own schedule.
• Ability to work under pressure and show flexibility when required.
