Role Purpose This is an exciting opportunity to join the Air Quality and Noise team at NRW. The team’s main role is to lead in the air quality & noise monitoring and modelling and provide impact assessment advice to EPR Permitting decision making & compliance check and Development Planning consultation across all directorates and regulatory activities with aerial (including noise) emissions, to improve air quality and noise in Wales. The Lead Noise Specialist will lead the provision of expert advice and knowledge on acoustics, noise control and soundscape to shape/inform Government policy, organisational approach for Wales and stakeholder agendas, and lead on NRW’s noise policy/position guidance in working with Welsh Government and other UK environment agencies, on provision of technical support on noise/vibration and its monitoring and assessment to NRW permitting and area operations. Qualifications and Skills 1. The post holder would require a degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering or science subject and an advanced level qualification in acoustics, e.g., the Institute of Acoustic Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control or work towards achieving this within 2 years. 2. Either be a chartered member of the Institute of Acoustics or have the requisite experience to meet the requirements of becoming one. 3. Regulatory or industrial experience with a particular emphasis in Acoustics, with significant recent acoustics practice. 4. Familiarity with the latest techniques for noise and vibration monitoring, including equipment, impact assessments and appropriate prevention and mitigation measures for noise and vibration control. 5.
