Job Description

We are looking for a Payroll Reconciliation Accountant to join the central finance team.

The role offers:

• Full-time: 6-9 month fixed-term contract
• Hybrid working
• Based in Maidenhead: onsite parking or a short walk from the train station
• Onsite gym

The main purpose of the role is to reconcile the monthly payroll Balance Sheet accounts, along with a triangulation reconciliation between Bank, Accounting and the Payroll system within the set deadlines. To write up the process notes for the reconciliations; training up required individuals on the correct approach.

You will be a team player and required to support the Head of Finance Shared Services, payroll colleagues and other central management accountants. Equally, you will have the experience to work on day-to-day task independently, using your initiative to resolve issues.

Main Accountabilities:

• Maintaining balance sheet integrity through the reconciliation of Payroll balance sheet accounts
• Ensuring good internal controls operate in the Payroll function as payroll costs represent one of the largest costs to the Group
• Reconciliation of payroll, pensions, and other benefits etc on a monthly basis. Liaise with Payroll department to resolve any reconciliation items
• Ensuring all payroll costs are promptly and accurately recorded in general ledger system (Dynamics 365), including any apportionment or recharges so that the financial system is fully up to date and reflects the true cost of the payroll in each subsidiary
• Consider ways to make the payroll control / reconciliation function more efficient and deliver value for money across the Group
• Working as part of a team to support colleagues and contribute to the vision and ethos of the Group

Qualifications

• A qualified accountant with payroll reconciliation experience
• Good system knowledge, ideally D365 but not essentia
• Strong focus on financial controls with motivation to ensure all reconciliations performed on time and confidence to flag risks to management
• A methodical structured individual with good analytical skills and an eye for detail
• Ability to prioritise and problem solve and make recommendations for process improvements as required
• Commitment and self-motivated with a high standard of professionalism and ethics
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven track record of working with senior finance and operations team members.
