Principal Mechanical Engineer – Stevenage

We are urgently seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work as part of a dynamic team to develop and deliver innovative solutions by exploiting a wide portfolio of software technologies.

This for our client who are a leading defence and aerospace company. This will be on a long term contract and Home working with expectation to be on site at least one day a week in Stevenage.

What we’re looking for:

High performing teams need high performing and experienced individuals. To be suitable for this role, candidates will be able to demonstrate a number of the following attributes:

• Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified with experience in Mechanical Design and Development in Electronics packaging ideally in Defence or Aerospace industries.
• Experience of PCB Enclosure design for harsh environments (shock, vibration, climatic and electromagnetic)
• Good knowledge and experience in design for manufacture and design for assembly.
• You will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead mechanical designs and have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team with the awareness and understanding of the challenges that this may bring.
• Awareness of proving and qualification activities to ensure compliance against requirements.
• Robust design experience across the Product Life Cycle (CADMID)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience of supplier engagement and development across internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
• An understanding of structural/thermal/dynamic analysis would be advantageous
