The purpose of the Program Manager is to ensure the effective management of a programme of Technology and Transformation initiatives covering all key aspects of the project life-cycle such as delivery, governance, reporting, financial management and resourcing. This includes interacting with senior stakeholders in the business, and within Technology and Transformation to ensure that the programme achieves its goals and the benefits are delivered effectively to the business.
Primary Responsibilities
The Programme Manager will work with the stakeholders and Technology and Transformation Team to shape and design programme roadmaps for a specific strategic initiatives, ensuring they meet business goals.
As part of the Programme Manager’s role, you will oversee projects which are aligned to that programme, including matrix management of resources to ensure that activities are focused and aligned to achieve the overall programme objectives. This also includes management of interdependencies, the programme plan, programme costs and financials, and risks & issue tracking and resolution.
Effective programme plans, budgets and resource schedules are developed, agreed and managed effectively.
Influencing technical environment plans to ensure effective delivery of the program.
Provide reports to the Project Management Office (PMO) on portfolio status as required including adherence to the governance framework and processes.
The Programme Manager will generate a culture of success and collective sense of ownership of the portfolio’s overall outcomes. Provides focal point for all project activity.
Business and project stakeholders are kept informed and are managed in line with portfolio needs.
Collaboration – work collaboratively with all members of the team across Technology and Transformation and the business areas to ensure that they are engaged and informed as necessary
Ensure effective relationships are built and maintained with peers and their teams, to add value to the organization.
Informed as to changes or other influences within the business that could impact the delivery of the Programme.
Work with the Scrum Masters, Project Managers and Analysts to ensure that all initiatives are actively managed on a day to day basis, with timely and effective resolution or escalation of risks and issues.
Manage overall programme budgets and related resourcing, supporting the monitoring of expenditures and costs against delivered and realized benefits in line with budget constraints.
Forward planning of programme tasks and project and business resources to ensure availability of the necessary skills and capability at the required time.
Provide overall management of the programme, dealing with the challenges of matrix management and the need to bring together people from various teams.
Preferred Experience
Experience in (Re)insurance.
Experience of working effectively with all levels throughout an organization
Quality and effectiveness of relationship management
Senior stakeholder management experience up to CxO
Solid experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Significant experience in Project / Programme / Portfolio management across methodologies (Agile and Waterfall)
Preferred Knowledge
In depth knowledge and understanding of Project / Programme / Portfolio management practices and methodologies.
Good understanding of systems development lifecycle and disciplines
Good understanding of Change Management best practice and continuous improvement methodologies
Knowledge of insurance industry / Lloyds market.
Business Intelligence and data warehouse awareness and understanding
Skilled at matrix management
