• Location: Ynys Las, Borth, North Wales • Grade & Salary: £32,876 – £36,229 (Grade 5) • Post number: 200627 • Type of contract: Fixed Term appointment until 30 June 2024 • Work pattern: Full time, 37 hours. Part Time considered – discussions at interview stage welcome

Role Purpose
As a member of the Welsh Raised Bogs (WRB) LIFE project team, you will develop and deliver a program of practical site restoration, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement work on 3 of the 7 Raised Bog SAC sites that are part of the project. You will draw up specifications for practical works, liaise with stakeholders and supervise contractors to deliver peatland restoration actions.
This is an excellent opportunity for people wishing to further their career in biodiversity conservation and land management.
Together with other project team members, you will support the Team Leader in ensuring delivery of project objectives & targets, and in reporting progress to the EU according to agreed milestones. You will ensure good governance of the project, including adherence to NRW’s procurement and wellbeing, health and safety practices.
The ability to undertake physically demanding field work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains. Where necessary/appropriate this includes lone working.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Knowledge of peatland site conservation and management, including experience of the application of management techniques and the management of contractors. (Essential) 2. Terrestrial habitat data collection, analysis and presentation of results including the ability to write clear, concise reports and the use of Arc GIS to analyse and collate data. (Essential) 3. Excellent team working and communication skills and the ability to represent the LIFE project to a variety of audiences including agricultural managers. 4. The ability to undertake physically demanding field work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains. Where necessary/appropriate this includes lone working. (Essential) 5. The ability to currently and legally drive a car in the UK. (Essential) 6. Protected species survey and mitigation (Desirable)
