Your New Company FCDO Services is a trading fund of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. You New Role The job holder will be part of the Quantity Surveyor & Building Surveyor Team within Engineering. Engineering comprises various technical disciplines including, M&E engineers, structural engineers, electricians, secure construction installers and clerk of works. The job holder will be part of multi-disciplined teams, providing costing advice in the delivery of a wide range of projects, both in the UK and overseas. Key responsibilities: Provide project and contract administration related cost advice, helping to ensure projects are delivered to recognised and acceptable standards, and on time and to budget Control project expenditure within agreed budgets and administered in accordance with contract requirements to support the delivery of small to medium scale / complexity construction projects Engage with stakeholders and contractors and provide specialist quantity surveying advice to ensure clear and coordinated project delivery Assist in the development of fee proposals for project related work to input into bids Provide regular reports on individual project progress, budgets and programmes so that progress can be monitored Assess and value changes to project scope to maintain full understanding and control of costs on projects Undertake feasibility studies, either via desktop or visits to overseas posts, to provide cost estimates for technical solutions to support decision making Manage own time effectively and submit accurate time recording, aiming to achieve target utilisation rates. Your will be required to have the following The role will require the individual to act as the quantity surveyor on projects typically ranging in value from £250k to £5m. The following skills and experience is required: Site surveys and inspections Construction project estimating Construction cost management Administration of NEC contracts Understanding of construction methods and technology across technical disciplines Understanding of current H&S legislation and procedures Stakeholder management Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data The candidate is expected to be a member of the RICS or other construction related professional body.
