About the role

A fantastic opportunity has opened in our H&S team for a Regional Food and H&S Manager. Reporting to the Lead Regional Health & Food Safety Manager you will be supporting around 50 sites in the estate across 3 regions in the north west, north Wales and west midlands areas.

Working mainly on your own, as part of a small team, providing advice and support for all H&S matters, conducting audits and producing reports you will be expected to have an in depth knowledge of of H&S legislation and the company safety and food hygiene policy.

Travel will be required, sometimes significant with little notice and occasional overnight stays.

The role offers a car allowance and blended working i.e. a mix of office and home working.

You will be responsible for
Creating and maintaining company H&S and food hygiene policies and guidance.
Dealing with all enforcement officer (EHO, Fire Officer) activity to conclusion
Taking action to reduce the risk of injury to colleagues or customers
Defending the company from potential prosecution for H&S or food hygiene offences
Acting as a responsible person for the safe and legal wholesale of medicinal products by the Booker Group
Creating site specific fire risk assessments and associated action plans and review of these actions
Maintaining good working relationships and providing support to managers and colleagues on different sites to raise safety standards
Completing health and safety audits to ensure compliance with company policy
Attending regional meetings to provide safety updates
Providing group H&S training where necessary to colleagues
Ensuring good food hygiene standards are maintained in BCs, and inspection of catering facilities on Booker sites.
Adherence to beef traceability policy
Adherence to legal requirements for live Lobsters
Monitoring, control and eradication of food pests within business centres both remotely via the pest control contractor and by physical inspection.
Compliance with the mandatory conditions of the MHRA medicines licence
You will need
An in-depth knowledge of H&S legislation, the company safety and food hygiene policies
A willingness to learn new skills where knowledge requires enhancement.
Great communication skills
A team player
A flexible but thorough approach, with attention to detail
The ability to organise your own diary to deliver to company deadlines
Good computer skills eg word and excel
