Are you a graduate perhaps thinking about a future career in teaching? Are you a recent graduate or just about to graduate and not sure what do next? We are working with a Secondary School in Downham Market who are looking for a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to start in a full-time position in their Science department from September 2023.
This position is a long-term contract and would be ideal for a candidate who is looking to gain more experience before starting teacher training or a PGCE as an Science Teacher. As an Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you would be supporting children across KS3, 4, 5 and may also include various support of SEN children. If you have an interest in a specific subject we look at specific roles working within certain departments within the schools we are working with. This role will also include various 1:1, small group and intervention support, giving you direct teaching experience, which will help if you are looking to complete a teacher training course in the future. The school have a excellent, supportive Science department with multiple routes for career progression both internally and throughout their school trust.
By becoming a graduate teaching assistant, you can get the experience you require to become a teacher in the future and add more skills and relevant experience to your CV. We can offer you experience in the classroom in both a 1:1 and whole class capacity, providing specific intervention support to children with a variety of needs, whilst also giving you access to develop your knowledge and experience within Education.

About you
A recent graduate or just about to graduate
Hold a 2:2 degree or above in any subject field
Willing to work full or part time between the hours of 8:30am – 3:30pm
Have a strong interest in working in education and exploring a future opportunity as a teacher
Pay & Working Hours
Graduate teaching assistants are typically paid between £9.50 and £11.50 per hour via PAYE. Income figures are intended as a guide only. Full-time Graduate Teaching Assistants usually work between 32 & 35 hours per week. Starting the school day at 8.30am and finishing at 3.30pm with a 30 minute lunch break. There are also part-time, casual and job share options available.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, but it may become permanent at a later date upon school discretion.
