We are currently working in partnership with a SEMH school in Leyland where the needs of the children are number one priority. The school are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to become permanent in their School. About the school: The school has small class sizes with no more than 8 pupils in a class and the pupils are provided with two pathways including a GCSE route or functional skills route. Additionally, the School also offer vocational qualifications via the Personal Development Programme. The setting caters for students ages 9-16 who have an EHCP in place, therefore their approach to learning is child centred with a focus on ensuring all students are prepared with a mix of qualifications and life skills. Students in this setting have communication and behavioural challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions. The pupils will need supervision at lunchtime, therefore the school offer a free lunch for their team to sit and eat with the pupils. The school are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant that is compassionate, hardworking, organised, and knowledgeable. The school are looking for an individual who is adaptable with strong experience and understanding about SEND. Due to the nature of the role the school is looking for somebody who has previously worked as a teaching assistant and has relevant experience working with vulnerable children. The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a full-time role Monday Friday 8:30 3:30pm as students receiving consistency is vital. A full clean driving license and access to own transport is essential due to the location of the School. The ideal Teaching Assistant can engage well with the pupils and has strong skills in deescalating and supporting challenging behaviour. Students in this provision need to feel encouraged and supported when facing challenges in their learning so the right candidate must be a real advocate for supporting students to reach their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be calm and nurturing in your approach with the ability to build great relationships with pupils. Each day will be different from the last therefore being adaptable is very important. Requirements: – GCSE in Maths and English graded C and above – A good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice. – Experience working with children with additional needs. – Full, Clean driving license and access to own transport Key responsibilities: – Building nurturing and meaningful relationships with pupils with SEND or SEMH – Working on a 1:1 basis or small group to support pupils with their learning. – Ability to adapt and be versatile within your role. – Manage challenging behaviour by building a bond with students and knowing their triggers. – Help prepare and set up lessons that are engaging and focus on a child centred approach. – Supporting with individualized student programs. – Communicating with teachers and support staff The benefits of working with Simply Education include: FREE CPD training with our Educational Development Managers to help further your skills.
