NHS Shared Business Services are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join the Procurement team at Royal Papworth Hospital where they will provide strategic procurement services to the hospital. The ideal candidate will possess the skills, knowledge, and experience to take the lead on end-to-end procurement activity and deliver without day-to-day supervision. This role will also require a detailed understanding of EU procurement methods, systems, and procedures. Initiative and judgment are required to address and resolve daily problems. This is a hybrid working role with two days based at Royal Papworth Hospital and three days working from home. Please note there is no onsite parking available for staff. Staff members are advised to use one of the many free park and ride facilities dotted around Cambridge. There are also secure areas at the hospital to lock up bikes and any other mode of transport used. What you’ll be doing: Providing procurement support to the hospital, leading on tendering activity appropriate to category through to contract award as well as ensuring the accurate procedure is adhered to reducing risk as to non-compliance with domestic and EU regulations. Aligning with existing UK regulations and company policies in handling strategic or business critical contracts and opportunities. Reviewing contracts and schedules to ensure they are fit for purpose and aligned to legal requirements. Through effective strategic contract management and application of Supplier relationship management techniques, ensure opportunities for innovation, improvements and benefit realisation are taken. Working with partners to develop constructive relationships with operational contract managers, providing support to ensure effective delivery of outcomes. Leading contract management meetings effectively as appropriate ensuring notes/minutes are distributed efficiently, and any actions are acted upon and providing regular reports including performance against important metrics and SLAs. As well as meeting with clients to discuss requirements and draft procurement documentation. What you ll bring: Experience of working in procurement, commissioning, bid writing or contract management team within Public Sector Knowledge and skill in Procurement process Market and product knowledge of the Health Sector Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage conflicting situations Great communication skills both written and verbally It would be great if you had: Professional Qualification in Procurement (such as MCIPS) or related field (Contract Management, Supply Chain, Funding etc) Previous NHS procurement experience with solid understanding of UK Procurement Policies, Procedures and Processes Experience in using Procurement ERP systems, eSourcing tools and MS Office Knowledge of working closely with multiple Government organisations and external third party suppliers Awareness of procurement compliance to instruct wider team/client If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we re looking for, please do apply, we d love to hear from you!
