Senior Catchment Advisor (Maternity Cover)

Location: Based at Walsall or Cambridge
At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions.
We now have a fantastic opportunity for a full time Senior Catchment Advisor to join our South Staffs Water or Cambridge team on a 11-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Water Resources and Environment Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning how we manage the catchment for drinking water supplies into the future in our South Staffs region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Using existing data and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, you will be required to assist and provide support in all aspects of the Company’s Catchment management strategy.
• Preparation of a delivery programme, and implementation of the strategy into the next asset management period.
• Supporting the existing catchment advisors in both regions in identifying where and how to effectively undertake catchment activities.
• Assisting in delivery of existing catchment programmes.
• Data collection and analysis and fieldwork to collect sampling data.
• Liaising with landowners managers for the provision of advice on water quality protection measures.
• Representing the Company at external stakeholder events, with some outside of normal working hours.
About you:
It is essential that you possess an ability to engage with stakeholders both internally, and outside of the water industry, undertake data collection, work in the field and adapt and develop new techniques.
We are looking for a candidate at graduate level with a hard-working ethic, organised, with the ability to collate/ analyse data using spreadsheets, a self-motivated individual who will work and communicate effectively with numerous key stakeholders.
An understanding of water supply and treatment, farming practices or agronomy would be an advantage in this role, however not essential. Knowledge of BASIS or an existing qualification in BASIS or catchment sensitive farming would be an advantage.
You will hold a current valid UK driving licence as an essential part of this role will involving visiting sites, etc.
