My Client is a highly reputable and industry-leading contractor with a turnover of £700 million, specializing in major civil engineering projects. With a proven track record of delivering complex and large-scale infrastructure projects, they are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Engineer to join their team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of a significant civil engineering project with a specific focus on Earthworks and Highways construction. Your expertise and leadership skills will be critical in ensuring the successful execution of the project, adhering to strict quality, safety, and environmental standards. You will collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, to ensure project objectives are met, and the highest levels of engineering excellence are achieved.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate the Earthworks and Highways construction activities on the project, ensuring compliance with design specifications, project plans, and relevant regulations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, resolving technical challenges, and implementing innovative solutions to optimize project outcomes.
• Manage the setting out and surveying activities, including the use of modern surveying equipment and software.
• Collaborate with the design team to review engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to ensure constructability and accuracy.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work delivery.
• Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
• Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a positive safety culture, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to monitor project costs, identify cost-saving measures, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of any issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A higher degree would be advantageous.
• Extensive experience in civil engineering, with a specific focus on Earthworks and Highways construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficient in using modern surveying equipment, software, and design tools.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project requirements.
• Professional registration or chartership would be desirable.
