We are looking for engineers to join our customer’s Data Centre Exit team. As part of a small team within a large Data Centre Exit Programme, your role will be to work client-side to deliver migration support services and to make changes to Solaris platforms hosting IT services critical to our Customer.
Key responsibilities include –
Backup and restore of system images and volumes,
Stop start services,
Removal and clean-up of tooling
Map storage volumes to VMs and map VLANs to VMs
Revert the service to the source location
Quiesce the service in the source location
You will be empowered to identity better ways of doing things and to share your ideas. You will be supported by a Service implementation Manager, who will look after your wellbeing and ensure you receive work that befits your skills. Most of the project work is expected to be in normal hours, but you could also be offered to work out of hours.
Your experience –
At least 5-10 years’ experience of supporting (2nd to 3rd Line) Solaris Servers and platforms within large scale infrastructures (1000+ Servers).
Significant Solaris 10 & 11 & Oracle hardware experience
Ops Center experience
UNIX Scripting skills
Knowledge of Linux (SUSE, RHEL or OEL)
Good understanding of Storage, Networking & Cloud computing technologies
Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication.
Have proven problem solving abilities.
Your knowledge/skills –
Certifications:
Oracle Solaris 11 System Administration (Or the Solaris 10 equivalent)
Oracle Solaris 11 System Advanced Administration (Or the Solaris 10 equivalent)
Non-technical skills and experience-
Remote employment from 1 July 2023 to 10/12/23 (initial engagement period)
SC cleared preferred
You need to be willing to work OOH and at weekends on a regular basis
You need to have good customer communication skills
You need to be willing to work to project committed timescales
You need to be a team player. Patience and a sense of humour will be beneficial!
