Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is working in the field of mental health, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), youth offending or Looked After Children? Are you ready to take the next stage in advancing your specialism within an expanding and supportive team providing direct therapy to children, young people and adults (0-25). We have exciting positions for Specialist SaLTs to advance their clinical skills via a robust CPD offer with varied clinical and project opportunities within this field.
Due to service expansion, and specialist contracts with education, health and care agencies we have exciting new opportunities for Specialist and Developing Specialist Therapists within SEMH. Perhaps you are a Band 6/7 or 5/6 equivalent Therapist who has been working within mental health or residential children’s services either in the NHS, local authority or in the private sector and you are looking to enhance or develop your specialism via CPD and mentoring? Or perhaps you are looking to manage a more complex caseload with a working week that includes both specialist direct assessment and direct therapy, among other interventions?
We are an expanding Speech and Language Therapy team that is part of the Communication and Interaction Team (C&I) which includes Specialist Teacher Advisers (STAs) and Occupational Therapists (OTs) specialising in Sensory Integration.

About the Role:
You would be joining the SEMH group, which is one seven multiagency specialism groups: Language Disorder, Autism Spectrum, Learning Difficulties, Complex Communication and Social, Emotional and Mental Health, specialist teaching and occupational therapy. Each of the Specialism Groups is led by a Lead Professional who would support you to develop within your role. Developing Specialist Therapists also join the Developing Therapists Group where they meet regularly with Developing Therapists and Newly Qualified Therapists. Expertise is shared across the team and specialist CPD is provided where required.
The C&I team sits within the Specialist Teacher Advisory Service (STAS) which also includes the Physical Disabilities and Assistive Technology Team (PD/AT) and the Sensory Team – Vision and Hearing Impairment (VI & HI). The STAS Service is part of Hampshire’s local SEND offer, working alongside other teams such as Educational Psychology, HIAS, Primary Behaviour Service, Youth Offending Team, virtual schools (for looked after children) and the SEN Service.
We have a close working partnership with the NHS Therapy Service (SaLT, OT and Physio) and encourage collaborative working and cross-service development.
