Your Role
Our client are looking for recruits to join our 2nd Line Storage support team. As part of a small team within a larger Operations organization, your role will be to deliver support services and change to storage platforms that are critical to our Customer.
Key responsibilities include –
Resolution of incidents and problems.
Running daily/weekly maintenance routines
Delivering SAN storage infrastructure change.
Identifying and delivering service improvements.
Develop the capability and skills of peers and junior engineers.
You will be empowered to identify better ways of doing things and share your ideas. You can expect to attain skills in new technologies to ensure continued growth of technical capability, with opportunities to work with all our operational teams (inc. Backup, Windows, Solaris/Linux and AIX teams) to enhance that learning.
Your experience
1-2 years’ experience of supporting (1st – 2nd Line) SAN storage.
Basic knowledge of SAN storage technologies.
Experience of working in teams effectively.
Proactive approach to personal workload management.
Competence in problem investigation, analysis and resolution
General awareness of how incident and change is managed in an IT environment (desirable).
Your knowledge/skills –
Use and support of any storage appliances and SAN fabrics (ideally Dell and HP but not mandatory).
Use and support of SAN storage in a VMWare environment.
General knowledge of supporting SAN storage with various server operating systems – Windows, Linux (RHEL & SLES), AIX and Solaris.
Non-technical skills and experience –
Remote employment
You need to be willing to work OOH and at weekends on a regular basis
You need to have good customer communication skills
You need to be willing to work to project committed timescales
You need to be a team player. Patience and a sense of humour will be beneficial!
