Reporting to the Senior Planning and Development Manager, the successful individual will work within the Development Team to advise on and deliver development projects that will unlock potential in the education estate This will include master planning, development appraisals, and the formulation of complex mixed-use schemes for school sites, in addition to working with schools to help them manage their estates more efficiently. This role will be home based, preferably in London/the South.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Appraising the potential of existing and new sites for schools, including undertaking development appraisals.
Assisting with the preparation of feasibility studies, planning assessments and masterplans for the more complex sites.
Working with the senior team to prepare outline budgets, agree development strategies, carry out planning pre-application work and in some cases, prepare planning applications, secure planning permission and procure development partners.
Considering all the creative options for alternative use of parts of school buildings/sites.
Working with the Property Team to manage the disposal of land, to ensure best value achieved.
Providing general estate management advice to schools, LAs and other responsible bodies.
Assisting with the preparation of investment committee reports seeking decisions, tracking progress and managing risks of projects.
KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Qualified Chartered Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS)
Experience in undertaking development appraisals, including building appraisal models in MS Excel and Argus developer
An understanding of the range of deal structures available to deliver schemes

A basic salary of up to £50,000 depending on experience
25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days, plus statutory holidays
