MBA are seeking a building modeler, to complement our team of bright & experienced engineers and sustainability professionals at the head office in Milton Keynes.
We are a multi-disciplined building services consultancy focused mainly within the UK industrial sector but broadening into residential, commercial and leisure. Our consultants continue to be involved with some of the largest & most successful industrial buildings in the UK including several of which have achieved Excellent and Outstanding BREEAM ratings.
We are a growing company with a strong portfolio and intend to develop the sustainability aspects of the department over the coming years.

Your responsibilities will typically be expected to comprise:
Leading all building modelling aspects of our sustainability projects
Working alongside our Head of Sustainability to ensure delivery of projects is efficient and effective
Researching and developing new approaches to projects for the benefit of our clients
Supporting and mentoring junior staff to help improve their skills and knowledge with a view to assist progression within the department
End to end project management of new and existing developments
Taking ownership of proposals/quotes from initiation through submission with the client
Monitor the quality of the work produced by sustainability engineers and contractors
Complying with MBA internal quality assurance procedures
It is expected that you demonstrate:
Experience in Dynamic Thermal Modelling software (for example TAS or IES)
Understanding & working to current UK legislation, building regulations, British Standards and Codes of Practice
Member of a relevant professional institute
Degree in a relevant subject or relevant industry experience
Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Advantageous to have:
Registration with a certification body as a level 4 or 5 non-domestic EPC assessor
Knowledge of the UK planning process, especially “energy strategies”
A working knowledge of TM52 – The limits of thermal comfort: Avoiding overheating in European buildings
A working knowledge of TM54 – Evaluating operational energy use at the design stage
Knowledge of risk management, financial management and commercial awareness
Awareness of broader sustainability issues and schemes (e.g. LCA and embodied carbon, BREEAM, LEED, passive design, health & wellbeing, post occupancy evaluation, low impact materials, water, waste, environmental economics, etc.)
