WHAT TO EXPECT
Engineering Laboratories forms the backbone of JLR’s internal vehicle test and development capability, and is responsible for a wide and diverse range of activities including Structural Test, Body Rig Test, Road Load Data, Analytical Facilities, NVH, Climatic Test, and Safety Test.
The Technologies Development Department are responsible for the design and delivery of facility components, test rigs and the infrastructure required in support of the core Engineering Laboratories test areas delivering physical test plans. The area is also responsible for the development and delivery of key new facilities, technology, infrastructure and strategy for Eng Labs, leading projects from concept through to delivery.
The role will see the associate responsible for the broad development and support of test control rigs and software across all encompassing test facilities within the group.
Secondly the role will involve the reactive support for all of Engineering Labs and their facilities, providing control workstation and software knowledge problem solving to support breakdowns and maintenance.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Support of Test Facility Workstations (PCs) & Rig Test Software.
• Specialism of Test facility application troubleshooting.
• Responsible for the uptime of Test Facilities and their included specialised networks, software and hardware.
• Involvement in the planning and commissioning of new Facility systems, including implementation of drawings, obtaining quotes and creating of timing plans aligned to overall project manager.
• Development of supporting system infrastructure, implementing improvements to facility designs where opportunity exists.
• Liaise with JLR Facility Development teams as well as test engineering teams on a pro-active basis, to deliver reactive support.
• Hands-on approach to problem solving and implementation of solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
• Ability to interrogate test program architectures, runtimes and scripting.
• Interrogate application issues down to a background level, ie registry or configuration files.
• Network configuration experience.
• Reactive problem solving of Test control and supporting systems.
• Ability to construct timing plans, schedule work tasks and manage team activities to completion.
• Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical developments
• Budgeting and estimating timescales
• Testing installations and systems on facilities
Desirable:
• Experience of Test Facility Software and Hardware (eg MTS Flextest, Station Manager).
• An advanced knowledge of Facility Control Workstations, including specialist supporting network infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Test Facility communications technology – Profinet, EtherCAT.
• Knowledge of specific Test support systems including MTS and HBM.
• Educated to degree level in a related discipline
• Experience of collaborative team environments
• Experience operating and working in a technically capable team
