Position: Technical Specialist (Pensions) Location: Central Bristol Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday 9 – 5 pm. Flexibility to work remotely, two days per week (3 days working in the office) Role Overview: As a Technical Specialist (Pensions), you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational compliance with current legislation for the Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP), Individual Savings Account (ISA), and third-party products. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will provide guidance, support, and training to internal and external stakeholders, maintaining our client’s award-winning service standards. Your responsibilities will include ensuring adherence to applicable product technical rules, championing the customer’s voice, and facilitating efficient development of new functionality or responses to regulatory changes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a R04 (or equivalent) Subject Matter Expert to make your mark with an award-winning firm who truly value their staff. Duties will include: – Being the Subject Matter Expert, collaborating with internal teams to ensure efficient and compliant administration of the firm’s products. – Provide training to operations and client services team members, ensuring they can effectively address technical queries and bridge knowledge gaps. – Create and maintain knowledgebase articles relating to products, reviewing them at least once every six months. – Engage with operational team managers to ensure compliance in product-driven processes and provide suggestions for procedural changes when gaps are identified. – Ensure timely completion of regulatory reporting. – Resolve technical queries from external advisers through direct communication when necessary. – Conduct daily reconciliation of the trustee bank account, identifying and resolving any issues promptly. – Oversee the payroll process and provide tax calculation guidance to internal and external parties. – Provide technical responses, in collaboration with the compliance team, to regulatory and legislative changes affecting products. – Provide technical sign-off on client-facing literature, including terms and conditions, key features documents, and marketing material. – Collaborate with the marketing team to create and host adviser-facing product technical content on the company website. – Serve as an escalation route for complex technical queries, including taxation and trust guidance. – Generate and compile reports for internal committee meetings and take the lead in addressing emerging operational challenges. – Take ownership of the internal due diligence framework for assessing the risk of pension scams during the pension transfer-out process. – Manage all third-party product relationships, ensuring compliance with legal obligations and swift resolution of conflicts. – Support the SIPP beneficiary decision-making process, ensuring operational teams understand requirements when assessing where death benefits should be paid. – Identify areas of improvement in current processes. Role Requirements: – Strong technical knowledge of SIPP and ISA products, with a minimum qualification of R04 (or equivalent) – Strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach – Demonstrated regulatory awareness and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. – Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritise tasks effectively. – Excellent communication, planning, and analytical skills. – Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) to stay updated with industry knowledge. – Willingness to challenge senior members of the business when necessary. – Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly strong Excel knowledge. – Understanding of agile delivery methods is desired.
