Position Description
At CGI our User Researchers are trusted to work closely with a wide variety of clients on challenging projects that have real world impact. CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2023 and has been named one of the Worlds Best Employers by Forbes magazine. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme ( + matching) which makes you a member not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector. Join us and youll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. Well train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go. These roles can be based from anywhere in the UK but you will need to spend a few days a week at one of our clients sites in London, Leeds or Manchester.
Your future duties and responsibilities
This role is focused on “pure” user research. You will work as a part of a multi-disciplined Agile digital delivery team on a key UK Government department programme. You are unlikely to find a more impactful opportunity in terms of the business, social and positive citizen impact. Your focus will be to conduct in-person research with citizen users of our clients services as well as key client staff members. You will analyse the research, with an emphasis on qualitative analysis, to support early service design or as part of ongoing project delivery.
Other key duties will include:
Familiarise yourself with the projects user research work to date and devise a strategy of moving the work forward
Lead on user research for the project, working with the wider team to help define and deliver the best methodology to address the specific user needs and experiences, as well as to recruit participants for research.
Plan, design and conduct user research sessions, including documenting research plans and findings, producing shareable outputs and socialising insights through ceremonies like team playbacks and programme-wide show and tells.
Collaboratively analyse the findings of user research to identify common themes and points of user contention and provide actionable recommendations to the relevant team members.
Be visible within the team and be able to engage, build trust and energise a team culture that is responsive to the findings of user research.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Youll be someone with a strong user research background, with experience in the full range of user research methods and the ability to translate research findings into reusable assets, actionable recommendations and quality reports. You will be ready to work with a multi-disciplinary team of product managers, service designers, policy advisors, social researchers, data scientists and service operations team members. Specifically for this project, we need someone with a strong background in exploratory user research such as contextual inquiries, depth interviews, diary studies and large-scale surveys. You will need to be someone who develops productive working relationships with the wider team, and takes an active role in stakeholder sessions, and leverages evidence to effectively challenge points of design without alienating individuals. Ideally, youll have experience working in Government and on large, complex services with both online and offline touch points, but this is not essential.
