Virtualisation Engineer/Architect (Contract)

Please note: This contract falls inside IR35.

This role will work with both internal teams and 3rd party organisations as an internal subject matter expert (SME) to design, deploy and lead the implementation of platform & infrastructure services.

Responsibilities:
– Analyse the current VM Ware estate and identification of Servers for production and non-production.
– Determine the sizing requirements for production, staging, build and development Servers in order to determine the recommended approach to which blade cluster the VM’s should be hosted.
– Develop automated scripts for the build/deployment of security hardened platform and infrastructure services to different environments (eg Production, Integration Test, Dev/Test etc.). Where possible, scripts should support both on premise and cloud deployments.
– Creating automated platform and infrastructure service deployments that can be used within a DevOps Toolchain in order to enable a DevOps continuous delivery pipeline.

Required Skills/Experience:
– Strong skills in VMware, both from an engineering and design perspective
– Strong experience with Windows Servers up to version 2022
– Experience with automation technology (Terraform/PowerShell/Ansible)
– Strong knowledge of Storage and Backups
– An understanding of the DevOps mind-set, collaboration, automation and tooling
– Any experience with Cisco Hyperflex or UCS would be desirable
