Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Welfare Manager to work with one of our Local Authority clients in London.
What the job will be doing
To lead and manage the local welfare scheme and services including Household and Support Funds focussing on service delivery, customer experience and performance improvement, ensuring adherence to Council policies and procedures, and statutory regulations.
To develop the Councils Welfare service provision including understanding need, using data, developing strategy and leading delivery operations.
To be the Council’s expert on all aspects of local welfare provision, and associated matters including data gathering and analysis, developing strategy, grant administration and payment, use of data.
To lead improvement in processes and performance by means of relevant technologies and new methods of working.
What you will need
Thorough knowledge of local welfare service provision and grant administration, administration and management and experience of working at a senior level within the welfare service provision for a minimum of three years.
Excellent analytical and communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels with the Council including members.
Experience of financial management within the local welfare environment.
Ability to manage and control key financial indicators, ensuring appropriate action is taken to address variances.
Ability to lead and motivate a large workforce across a number of related services. Ability to consider strategic impact of approach and decision making.
Ability to work within a highly regulated operational environment.
Ability to exercise initiative and good judgement in delivering a customer-focussed, quality service that delivers the Council’s corporate aims and objectives.
Knowledge and experience or using local welfare management systems such as NEC and Information at Work
Knowledge and experience of using IT tools including MS Office systems
