WTG Commissioning Manager

My client urgently seeks a WTG Commissioning Manager to oversee and manage the commissioning activities of the Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) at the completion harbour in Taichung, Taiwan.

This role is primarily office-based in London, UK, with the option to work from home.

Responsibilities

• Participate in contract negotiations and provide technical input.
• Plan, manage, and ensure compliance with the scope, time, budget, and resources for WTG commissioning activities performed by contractors.
• Daily management of WTG commissioning Supervisors and Inspectors, both onshore and offshore.
• Monitor the quality and progress of WTG commissioning activities.
• Manage commissioning activities with contractors and sub-contractors.
• Ensure the quality of commissioning works and associated documentation.
• Report commissioning progress to the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team and actively participate in commissioning management meetings.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) targets.
• Provide input on critical inspection points and maintain control over quality-related activities.
• Regularly update Critical to Quality (CTQ) points and ensure their inclusion in the Quality Activity Schedule (QAS).
• Ensure compliance with relevant Employer’s Requirements.

Tasks

• Manage WTG Commissioning Supervisors and Inspectors on a daily basis, including prioritizing inspection activities and coordinating schedules.
• Align commissioning sequences on a daily basis.
• Maintain the project’s time schedule and take appropriate actions if commissioning activities fall behind.
• Coordinate and align WTG commissioning activities performed by contractors.
• Act as the single point of contact for WTG Contractor and other sub-contractors involved in WTG installation and commissioning activities.
• Verify the accuracy of Contractors’ daily progress reports.
• Ensure WTG commissioning activities adhere to internal and external requirements, specifications, project HSE rules, and local legislation.
• Review and approve provisional as-built documentation related to WTG completion, commissioning, and testing.
• Ensure Quality Control (QC) is conducted according to the contract throughout the completion, commissioning, testing, and handover phases.
• Maintain communication with WTG suppliers, follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and snagging lists at the site.
• Report WTG commissioning activities to the WTG Project Manager.
• Participate in daily/weekly commissioning and coordination meetings.
• Create and monitor the execution of the QAS, incorporating input from relevant stakeholders.
• Review Supplier’s Inspection and Test plans and validate product quality controls.
• Review product and as-built documentation during the execution phase.

Deliverables

• Inspection and commissioning reports.
• Non-conformity (Synergi) reports.
• Handover documents.

Working Schedule

• 8 hours per day, with the possibility of up to 12 hours per day.
• 5 days per week, with the possibility of up to 6 days per week.
• Work from the client’s office in the UK and occasionally from a home office.

Qualifications

• Technical education relevant to the subject matter.
• Completion of all necessary safety trainings, such as GWO.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience within the offshore wind industry.
• Minimum of 1 year of practical experience executing WTG commissioning activities.
